We are so proud that The Roosevelt Hotel associates and managers have once again, for the 5th consecutive year, won the trophy for the Highest Participation in the Annual Hotel Industry Walkathon for Charity.  Even more important, we collected the most money for this year’s charity the Make a Wish Foundation.  With over 200 walkers our significant donation will surely be very much appreciated by those in need.

This is what being in the hospitality industry means…assisting those who need assistance, working together, delivering excellent results and creating memorable moments.

The historic Roosevelt Hotel New York is famously named after President Theodore Roosevelt himself , but this property is also home to another historic political figure. The Roosevelt also played a part in one of the most famous presidential elections in history. Dewey v. Truman.

From 1943 to 1955 the hotel became New York City’s Governor Thomas E. Dewey’s business headquarters and residence. Dewey later ran and lost to President Harry Truman in 1948, receiving the news of his loss in Suite 1527 of the hotel, properly named the Governors Suite. This loss is said to be one of the greatest political upsets in American history.

This week, the hotel welcomes C-SPAN series, The Contenders. as they film a program dedicated to Governor Dewey right back in Suite 1527. Be sure to tune in on October 28th at 8:00pm ET.

See that building? Yep, that’s us! We particularly like seeing Kyra Sedgwick reporting from the hotel entrance at 0.43 seconds. It’s always amazing to play a part in the filming industry and we cannot be excited

Construction on The Roosevelt Hotel was completed in 1924 and occupied an entire city block in the heart of New York City. Designed by George B. Post & Son, the hotel dominated Madison Avenue and was the first the hotel to incorporate store fronts and shops on it’s street level sidewalk facades. This was mainly due to the prohibition era and to offset the revenue losses during that time. The hotel was also, at one time, linked with Grand Central Terminal by way of an underground passage that connected the hotel to the train terminal.
