It was announced not long ago that Lady Liberty will be undergoing a “make-over” and will be open for limited access to visitors for about a year. As of October 29, 2011, the interior access to the Statue of Liberty will be temporarily restricted as she gets a $27.25 million ‘facelift’, a project intended to improve visitor safety and accessibility. Liberty Island will remain open to visitors during the planned improvements but access will be limited so we though this was a great time to hare some details on how you can visit one of New York’s most spectacular landmarks before the renovation project begins.
The Statue of Liberty was a gift of friendship from the people of France to the people of the United States and is a universal symbol of freedom and democracy. She was dedicated on October 28, 1886, designated as a National Monument in

The Boardwalk
One of the most famous attractions at Coney Island is the boardwalk. You’ll find street performers, spontaneous dance acts and delicious snacks all along the way. You won’t want to be at Coney Island and miss out on eating a Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog at it’s original restaurant located right on the corner of the boardwalk! Lines will be long, but it’s worth the wait. Lace up those roller skates everyone! This week High-Line opens one of Manhattans only outdoor roller rinks and we are very excited! Located at West 30th Street and 10th Avenue admission to the fun will cost you $12 and includes skate rentals.
The rink will be pumping tunes from a selection of Top 40/Disco/Techno from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m Thursday through Saturday.
You’ll probably work up an appetite with all that rolling around but have no fear, there will be a rotating series of the city’s favorite food trucks offering delicious food and beverage. If you’re not too dizzy already, then catch a drink at The Lot on Tap right next door where they serve beer and wine.
It’s only open until September 26th so get out there and have some fun!

The thrill of flying above skyscrapers is no match for any other tour you can experience in the Big Apple. Here are some great services that can provide you with a view of Manhattan from up above.

One again, the spectacular Macy’s Fireworks will grace the skies over the Hudson River this year for the Fourth of July celebration! At around 9:20 pm on July 4th, firework show will be set off from six barges on the Hudson featuring more then 40,000 exploding shells with more then 1,500 per minute and fireworks!! The best views will be from Manhattan’s West Side below 59th Streets and almost any New Jersey waterfront area. For a prime location, get a spot early as the public areas get extremely crowded (I would suggest around 5pm). Be sure to bring chairs or a blanket, snacks water and anything else you want to enjoy during the show. Here are some suggestions on specific places to see one of the largest firework shows!
