The Roosevelt Hotel’s General Manager is the One to Watch

The staff and management of the The Roosevelt Hotel New York are pleased and honored to announce that our very own General Manager, Mr. John Trovato, has been recognized as one of the nations “Top 25 General Manager to Watch” this year, a prestigious title awarded by Hotel Management recognizing the most notable GMs in the industry. Mr. Trovato has been with The Roosevelt – operated by Interstate Hotels & Resorts – since 2004 and is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the 1,015-room property with 30,000 square feet of meeting space.

Notable accomplishments at The Roosevelt range from negotiating all commercial leases and reducing millions of dollars in operating costs during the 2009 economic downturn, to developing, designing and opening mad46, the hotel’s rooftop bar, in 2008 and surpassing 100 million+ in revenue that same year for the first time in history. Most recently, Mr. Trovato was responsible for overseeing the multi-million renovation of all guest rooms completed in 2012.

Offering a long-standing history in the hospitality industry, Mr. Trovato has represented Interstate Hotels & Resorts, the nation’s largest independent hotel management company, since 1981. Prior to joining The Roosevelt, Mr. Trovato succeeded in dynamic roles including Food and Beverage Director at Executive Park Marriott in N.C.; Director of Operations at Houston Marriott North Greenspoint and General Manager at Fort Macgruder Inn & Conference Center in Va. Mr. Trovato’s last two positions held directly before The Roosevelt include Regional Director of Operations (East Coast) for Interstate Hotels Corporation with 22 hotels/resorts under his direction and just prior to joining the Roosevelt Hotel he served as General Manager of San Francisco Marriott Fisherman’s Wharf, where revenue increased by $2 million and RevPar grew from 151.00 to 169.00 during Mr. Trovato’s first year.

In addition to Hotel Management’s recent recognition, Mr. Trovato has been awarded with numerous Interstate accolades including General Manager’s Award for Most Positive Organizational Climate; Special Achievement Award for House Profit and Guest Hospitality; Marriott Owner’s Relation Award; and Hotel of the Year for all Interstate Hotels and Resorts in 2008.
