After an almost two year hiatus, this weekend we welcome back one of the best shows on television, MAD MEN! For those of you who are avid fans, you know that The Roosevelt Hotel is where Don Draper takes residence when Betty kicks him out in Season 4. To continue the tradition at the hotel, this Sunday, March 25th, the Madison Club Lounge will be hosting a viewing party of the Season Five Premiere of the show.
The event will include a 60’s inspired cocktail list and drink specials with such cocktails like..
Lucky Strike Cedilla Acai Liqueur, Vodka, and Pineapple juice
MadMenhattan The classic Manhattan made with Makers46 Bourbon,
bitters, Marachino cherry.
Sterling Cooper Cosmopolitan Vodka, Cointreau, and Cranberry Juice, splash of Prosecco
With great specials during the Mad Men Happy Hour (7-8pm) and a great ‘Three Course Prix Fix Menu’, you will be ready to sip away at your martini for the show to start at 9pm on our many flat screens.
Sixties-Style MAD MEN attire is encouraged so shine up your shoes and dig out those pearls & pencil skirts. There will be tons of photo ops and even a contest for the best-dressed male and female guests! Check out the winners from our last Mad Men Party here! Be sure to share your pics and post them to The Roosevelt Hotel Facebook page or tweet it to us @RooseveltNYC.
It’s time for that Gaelic pride! The New York City St. Patrick’s Day parade is one of the best (and most fun) parades in the world. Let’s just say, the Irish know how to do it! This Saturday, March 17th, the parade will start right outside the doors of The Roosevelt Hotel at 45th Street. It begins at 11:00 am and marches up Fifth Avenue, past St. Patrick’s Cathedral and ends near the Metropolitan Museum of Art at 86th Street about 4:30pm. Along the way will be lost of green and lots of shouting and, of course, the blaring of bagpipes!
There are tons of great Irish pubs and restaurants in Midtown, but there is no better place to begin parade festivities than at Vander Bar. Located at the start of the parade, Vander Bar will open its doors at 10am for those parade goers who want to get an early start. Corned Beef and Cabbage will definitely be on the menu, along with great drink specials. It wouldn’t be a party without a specialty cocktail list with some great themed cocktails like…
Blarney Stone Bushmills Irish Whiskey, Sweet Vermouth, Grand Marnier, Bitters
Wild Irish Rose Jameson 1780 Irish Whiskey, Peach liqueur, Orange Juice, sweet & sour, over ice with a cherry & orange slice
Another must-see at the hotel is the annual bag pipers performance by the Rockland County AOH Edward V. Larkin Memorial Pipe Band in the hotel lobby at 11:30pm and again at 1pm. This annual tradition is always a treat for guests, associates and local patrons and we welcome all to join us. Grab a seat at the lobby bar, the Madison Club Lounge, for a Guinness and a front row seat to the show!
