Man On A Ledge at The Roosevelt Hotel

We have to admit, we are giddy with excitement about being such a crucial part of this movie. We posted last year about it while it was being filmed right here at The Roosevelt Hotel New York, but now we are finally getting a glimpse of the film to come. Check out the amazing trailer for ‘Man On A Ledge’ starring Sam Worthington.

See that building? Yep, that’s us! We particularly like seeing Kyra Sedgwick reporting from the hotel entrance at 0.43 seconds. It’s always amazing to play a part in the filming industry and we cannot be excited enough about being the ‘ledge’ in this great movie.

And we’re no rookies at movie shoots! The Roosevelt Hotel is proud be have appeared appeared in several major motion pictures over the years, including The Boiler Room, Wall Street, Quiz Show, Presumed Innocent, Malcolm X, Monday Night Mayhem, The French Connection, Hanky Panky, Maid in Manhattan, The Hoax and 1408.

Due out next year, you can be sure that we’ll be in line to see the film. Find out more about this movie at

Shops at the Roosevelt

Construction on The Roosevelt Hotel was completed in 1924 and occupied an entire city block in the heart of New York City. Designed by George B. Post & Son, the hotel dominated Madison Avenue and was the first the hotel to incorporate store fronts and shops on it’s street level sidewalk facades. This was mainly due to the prohibition era and to offset the revenue losses during that time. The hotel was also, at one time, linked with Grand Central Terminal by way of an underground passage that connected the hotel to the train terminal. That passage way has been closed for many years, but if you head down to the Arcade Level of the hotel, even to this day, the empty staircase still sits.

These days, the Shops at the Roosevelt are filled with a variety of shops and boutiques available to both hotel guests and those passing Madison Avenue. From an upscale hair salon to an authentic Italian coffee shop, there are shops that provide services and products for every New Yorker and guests. Here is a list of shops located on the street level of the hotel. For more information on the shops, visit us here.

Sarar:  European Fashion

The Art of Shaving:  All natural shaving services and products

Jean-Claude Biguine Salon:  Upscale Hair Salon

Clarks:  Footwear

Filicori:  Italian Coffee Roasters

John Allans: Upscale Men’s Salon

Ambassador Luggage:  Travel Products and Accessories

and many more…

Introducing the ‘BILLIARD ROOM’

Rack ’em up! Along side the The Roosevelt Hotel’scurrent guestroom makeover , there is also some exciting news about a new addition to the lobby level bar, the Madison Club Lounge.  Coming soon, the hotel will enhance the famed Madison Club Lounge with the opening of a new ‘Billiards Room’ for guests that wish to shoot some pool while enjoying a classic martini served from the Madison Club Lounge.  The Billiards Room will have one pool table, lounge seating and two flat screen televisions. Additionally the well appointed Billiards Room which is dressed in mahogany wood will encompass some of the original architecture of the Roosevelt Hotel where patrons will enjoy a bird’s eye view of the hustle and bustle of Madison Avenue from the original large paned glass windows that overlook 45th street and Madison Avenue.

The Madison Club Lounge hosts an ambience of a classic, old-school New York City hotel lounge with rich mahogany paneling, stained glass windows and deep cushioned leather chairs.  We think a ‘Billiard Room’ is the perfect addition to an already classic experience.

Follow The Roosevelt Hotel on Facebook and Twitter for updates on the opening of the ‘Billiard Room’!

The smell of cannoli’s and Italian sausage and peppers is already in the air at this year’s feast of San Gennaro! The 85th celebration kicked off last week with it’s famous cannoli eating contest. Patrick Bertoletti, 26, broke the all time record by eating 32 cannolis in 6 minutes. If you missed it, have no fear, there are plenty of pizza and pasta eating contests all week.

Running along Mott Street from Hester to Prince, enjoy the street festival filled with amazing (yes, we mean amazing) Italian foods and delicacies, carnival games, live music and so much more. Located in NYC’s area of Little Italy, you can also pop into the cafe’s and restaurants for great deals and a wonderful dinner experience. Activities run from 11:30 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. (midnight on Fridays and Saturdays) and the festival will end this weekend on September 25th.

Today is Official Feast Day so there is a religious procession begin at Most Precious Blood Church, and will proceed north on Mulberry to Houston, then move south on Mott to Grand, where they will turn right on Grand to Baxter Street. The Grand Procession is also on Saturday, September 24 and will run the same route.

To learn more about the San Gennaro Feast, visit the official website here. It’s a must see event (ahem, eat) in NYC. Be sure to go hungry!
