Fourth of July: Where to watch the Macy’s Fireworks

One again, the spectacular Macy’s Fireworks will grace the skies over the Hudson River this year for the Fourth of July celebration! At around 9:20 pm on July 4th, firework show will be set off from six barges on the Hudson featuring more then 40,000 exploding shells with more then 1,500 per minute and fireworks!! The best views will be from Manhattan’s West Side below 59th Streets and almost any New Jersey waterfront area. For a prime location, get a spot early as the public areas get extremely crowded (I would suggest around 5pm). Be sure to bring chairs or a blanket, snacks water and anything else you want to enjoy during the show. Here are some suggestions on specific places to see one of the largest firework shows!

West Side Highway
The West Side Highway basically becomes a huge block party and gets very crowded.  Its also the best place to see the display if you can tolerate the crowds.  Best places are at  Pier 54 and Pier 84 (Macy’s recommendations)  You can also enter at West St. and 13th St. / West St. and 44th St.

New Jersey Waterfront
You’ll find great views from both Hoboken and Weehawken but any Jersey waterfront will get you a view. We suggest Waterfront Park or Hamilton Park in Weehawken and Maxwell Park (11th Street to 14th street) in Hoboken.  There’s also a great nightlife scene in Hoboken so if you’re up for it, hit up one of the bars/restaurants before or after the display.  But plan to wait, it will be a busy night!

Water Taxi Cruise
South Street Seaport
For  $100 ticket you can get on the Fourth of July cruise which includes food and the ride.  There is a cash-only bar selling beer and wine for those who want to cheers to the fireworks. Click here for tickets.
