2011 New York Baseball Begins!

With Spring Training already underway, it’s almost time for one of our favorite things in all the world…BASEBALL! And no one does baseball quite like New York. The 2011 Major League Baseball season is scheduled to begin on this April with the New York Mets and the New York Yankees on deck!

The ‘Amazin’ Mets’ open their season on Friday, April 1, 2011, playing the Florida Marlins and the ‘Bronx Bombers’ regular-season opening game is Thursday, March 31, 2011 at home vs the Detroit Tigers.  You can purchase tickets here for games all season long!

If you can’t make a trip to one of the two fairly new stadiums (Citi Field or Yankee Stadium), look forward to some great promotions and a constant baseball game running on the screens at Vander Bar!

Who is your favorite New York baseball team?

St. Patrick’s Day Celebration in NYC

It’s one of the biggest parties of the year!  St. Patrick’s Day in New York City is one of a kind and there is so much to do to join the festivities.

The St. Patrick’s Day Parade
Starting right outside the doors of The Roosevelt Hotel at 44th Street, the parade begins at 11:00 am and marches up Fifth Avenue, past St. Patrick’s Cathedral and ends near the Metropolitan Museum of Art at 86th Street about 4:30pm.  Along the way will be lost of green, blaring bagpipes,  lots of shouting and tons tons of fun!  Start off at Vander Bar for some great specials and free Corned Beef and Cabbage from 12-2pm. Another must-see at the hotel is the annual bag pipers performance in the hotel lobby at 12pm and 1pm.  Here’s a peek at last years performance!

Can’t make it to the parade?  You can watch it live online at www.nycstpatricksparade.org

St. Patrick’s Cathedral
It’s not all about the booze on this holiday.  St. Patrick’s Day is a religious holiday, so stop by for a service at one of America’s most famous churches, St. Patrick’s Cathedral on Fifth Avenue.  Feel alittle guilty going to church?  At least stop by and take in its beauty before going to chug some green beer.

Look for me at Vander Bar or in the hotel lobby and be sure to stop by and say hi!  Everyone have a great time and be safe!!

mad46 Season Starts MARCH 30th

It’s been a cold, rough (and extremely snowy) Winter in NYC, but that only makes the signs of Spring that much more exciting. And with the rising temperatures, comes the opening of The Roosevelt Hotel‘s rooftop lounge, mad46!

Celebrating its fourth season as one of the Manhattans most popular rooftops, the sleek and secluded mad46 will open its doors this March 30th. Located on the corner of Madison and 46th, where an exclusive elevator ascends to the 19th floor of the legendary hotel, mad46 welcomes guests with newly upgraded outdoor furnishings, including comfortable day bed style seating and sectional sofas, complimented by shading umbrellas and candlelit lanterns.

Above the hustle and bustle of the city, this after-work hot spot exudes a cosmopolitan feel, refreshing guests outdoors with its ultra chic surroundings and elegantly furnishings, while the two expansive indoor areas offer the same breathtaking views and deliciously creative cocktails in a fully air-conditioned lounge, perfect for private parties, rainy afternoons or escaping the summer heat.

The return of this season also means the return of the mad46 incredible signature drink list including cocktails like the crowd favorite Mad Mojito and the espresso flavored Teddy-Tini (it is rumored that Teddy drank a gallon of coffee a day). The lounge also offers a variety of palate pleasing appetizers for happy-hour enthusiasts ranging from the delicious quesadillas with duck confit and pita chips with lemon garlic hummus to the savory lump crabmeat on brioche buns and pan-seared pot stickers. Check out the mad46 menus here.

Also returning will be the fantastic promotions and events that mad46 has become known for.  Stay in touch with events like the madMovies, a summer series of rooftop films, by joining us on Facebook and Twitter!
