You have got to love New York! It’s not every day that you see thousands of people walking around the subway without their pants on, but this Sunday, January 9th, that is exactly what you will see. This year is the 10th Annual No Pants Subway Ride coordinated by the pranksters at Improv Everywhere. Improv Everywhere is a group that strategically causes scenes of chaos and joy in public places. One of my favorites was the frozen Grand Central scene. See that video here.
This year, folks that are willing to take their pants off (while not giggling of course) can meet up at any six meeting points around the city at 3:00pm this Sunday to participate. Everyone is organized by subway and even assigned a train car.
The plan is for everyone to be completely anonymous, go to your designated spot, travel as you normally would, with a book or headphones, and then de-pant. Again, no giggles allowed. Participants are instructed to answer questions casually and act completely normal. The whole gag lasts about an hour or so and usually runs around Union Square. The faces of unknowing commuters? Priceless.
Only in New York!
