Perhaps it’s because I just had a baby but my first post back on TheNYKnow.com is for all the kiddies out there!
Halloween is one of my favorite holidays. There’s something about dressing up in silly costumes that just makes you feel young again. And the children. Oh, the children. How adorable all the little monsters and superheros and princess are. It’s really a super fun time of year.
Over the years, I’ve noticed that times have changed and I don’t get as many trick-or-treaters as I used too. Perhaps its because parents are more protective over their young ones. It’s a good thing that New York City offers wonderful alternatives to the Halloween door to door tradition.
Like Boo at the Zoo. Through October, weekends are filled with fun at the Bronx Zoo. I’m talking hay mazes, hayrides, pumpkin carving, puppet shows, magic shows, and live music. If you still have some energy you can also visit bats, cats, and all the creepiest critters that call the Bronx Zoo home.
Get dressed up and march in the Costume Parade held twice a day at 12:45pm and 2:45pm with music by Gigi and the Lend Me a Hand Band. At this point you’ll probably need a pick me up so stop by one of the parks Treat Stations located around the zoo.
Sounds like fun, right? It’s the perfect way to spend a day with your kids this October. Click here to see all the activities and entertainment offered. Have fun!
