On behalf of myself and Roosevelt Hotel’s Sales & Marketing Team, I would like to send out a sincere “thank you” to our E-Commerce Manager Kelli Crean. Kelli will be greatly missed these next few months by our staff and hotel followers alike while she is away on maternity leave.
Kelli has proven herself a valuable member of the Roosevelt team, as she has done and continues to do tremendous work with all of our social networking and E-commerce ventures. The social community Kelli has helped to create around the hotel and hotel outlets is an unmatchable achievement. Her work in conceptualizing RooseveltConnect.com was recognized by Interstate Hotels as a company “Best Practice”, and her large band of online followers proves that large organizations can have a relationship with their customers.
Kelli’s dedication to her work can be easily seen by the network she has created around the hotel. While Kelli is a highly-valued manager here, her success in work actually pales in comparison to how highly thought of she is as a person and how much our Roosevelt family cares for her.
Kelli, congratulations to you and your family on your new addition! We will miss you these next few months and look forward to your return in September!
Every year there comes a time when countless Coney Islanders and Coney Island visitors adorn themselves in seaweed, scales and shells and walk through the streets celebrating the beginning of the summer season…that time has come.
The Coney Island Mermaid Parade will be taking place on Saturday, June 19th at 2 p.m. The parade is an annual celebration that marks the beginning of summer in which participants come out and dress up in wild marine outfits and either walk the route or watch from the sidelines. Though this event may seem peculiar to those not familiar with it, I assure you it is all in good seasonal fun. However, if you’re planning on bringing the whole family, be aware that many authentic mermaid and mermen costumes do not require much clothing, and partial nudity is acceptable on the island as long as it is not intended as a business venture.
The event, which originated in 1983, has come to be the nation’s largest art parade with thousands coming out to dress up and enjoy the festivities. Each year a celebrity king and queen join the fun. This year King Neptune will be Lou Reed and Queen Mermaid will be Laurie Anderson.
To registration to march can be found on the Mermaid Parade website and, keep in mind, costumes will be judged! Winners will be chosen!
All of our guest who purchased Bacardi Torched Cherry and Coke, were automatically entered to win a Pair of tickets to see the New Kids on the Block at Radio City Music Hall!
Congratulations to all of our winners and a big THANK YOU to everyone that stopped by Vander Bar for their chance to win!
Our Grand Prize Winner, Nisha from Manhattan won our Girls night out package which includes 4 tickets to the show, a bottle of Bacardi Torched Cherry Rum and overnight accommodations at The Roosevelt Hotel, located just blocks from Radio City Music Hall.
Practice rounds have just begun for this year’s U.S. Mens Golf Open tournament hosted by Pebble Beach. Avid golf fans from around the globe will be tuning in to cheer on their favorites while the media struggles to make strong predictions as there is, for once, no real front runner. As Robert Lusetich from Fox Sports puts it, “We’re in for a wide-open Open”.
The last time the Open was played at Pebble Beach was in 2000, and Tiger Woods cruised to victory 15 stroked ahead. Woods will most likely be trying very hard to defend his dominance at the beautiful Monterey Peninsula course, but there are many others who would like to capture the title of golf’s grandest tournament. Namely, Phil Mickelson, the winner of this years Master’s tournament and five time runner up at the Open will certainly be vying to dethrone Woods. Other frontrunners include Lee Westwood, Stephen Ames, Steve Stricker, Jim Furyk, Ernie Els and Rory McIlroy.
So where will you tune in to this year’s Open? We suggest visiting The Madison Club Lounge where specials on Drewar’a Diablo and Callaway Cocktails will be offered all week during the tournament. So kick back your feet and join us at Madison Club Lounge for the best U.S. Open viewing atmosphere you can find in the city.
