Secretly dreaming of dancing on Broadway? Well here’s your chance! Saturday May 22nd, New York’s Fourth Annual Dance Parade features thousands of dancers in over 70 styles of dance and 200 dance organizations. The parade begins on Broadway, dances through the city to University Place and on to St. Marks Street, boogying through the East Village and eventually waltzing right into DanceFest in Tompkins Square Park.
New York’s melting pot of cultures is beautifully displayed every year in the event’s fusion of international and domestic dances. The parade truly embodies dance as universal form of expression and fun!
The parade and subsequent DanceFest are free and open to the public, DanceFest even offers free dance lessons and of course a dance party and dance demonstrations. But the party doesn’t end with DanceFest! The $15 Dance Passport gets you free admission until midnight to hotspots like Element, Alphabet Lounge, Katra, Leopard Lounge, Sin Sin, China 1 and naturally, The official Dance Parade 2010 after party at Webster Hall.
