Being the tech savvy young woman I am (ok, I’ll admit it, I may be a bit of a nerd), I have to talk a little about Internet Week NY. It’s a full week of events revolving around the thriving Internet industry and its community. It includes meetings and events that are directed towards all aspects of the online world, including social media, marketing and even some technical events.

On the first week of June, the city will be hosting a variety of events and like the Web itself; Internet Week NY is open for anyone to attend. Check out the list of events here.

If you plan on attending and need a place to stay, The Roosevelt Hotel is offering a great deal, EXCLUSIVELY for our blog readers. Check it out:

Hello Sailors!!

It’s the time of year again when thousands of servicemen and women from the US Marine Corps, Navy and Coast Guard arrive at the New York Harbor for New York City Fleet Week 2009.

A tradition since 1984, we have welcomed active military ships and their crews to our city for a few days of fun. From May 20-26th, you can enjoy some events like military demonstrations, musical performances or take a tour of these ships they call home. The best part…these guys get to spend a day or two enjoying the Big Apple.

So if your walking down Fifth Avenue or having a cocktail at mad46 and you spot one of these fine men and women of the U.S. Naval Services, be sure to tip your hat and give them a warm welcome.

John Lennon was a classic New Yorker. His music, activism and “anything goes” attitude embodied the New York spirit and it was no secret that he adored this city.

On May 12th, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Annex NYC, located in SoHo, opened its new feature exhibit, JOHN LENNON: THE NEW YORK CITY YEARS. The exhibit explores John Lennon’s passion for music, art, politics and film, with New York City as his backdrop. In a stark white room, the exhibit is set up to mimic the backdrop of the “Imagine” video and includes rare objects from Lennon’s life, including original hand written lyrics, the famed “New York City” t-shirt and some other items that Yoko Ono pulled from her personal stash.

For fans (like myself), seeing this exhibit is an absolute must. And a little tip..if you hear a
