The New York City Dance Parade was started as an effort to bring together the many different dance cultures and ethnicities of New York City and to celebrate the history of social dance and to show the creativity, vibrancy and grace in its many diverse forms.
On May 16th, 2009, the streets of New York City will be alive with dance for the third annual New York City Dance Parade! With 5, 000 dancers starting at Broadway and 28th Street, they will boogie their way down past Union Square and ending at Tompkins Square Park where DanceFest will be held. There will be a celebration of free dance performances, free dance lessons and a big ‘ol dance party!
