On an average day, 112,000 New Yorkers bicycle their way to work, school or just to ride the city. That is a 10% increase over the past ten years and up 50% in the past two decades. That just shows that New Yorkers have an increasing desire to hop on two wheels and pedal their way around this wonderful city.
Bike Month NYC is an annual celebration of bicycling in the New York metropolitan area where thousands of bicyclists from around the city and outer boroughs participate in a variety of special events including tour rides, repair classes, films, races, discussions and much more.
Check out the Bike Month NYC 2009 – Events Calendar for full details. If you’re just in town for a visit, you can still get in on the fun! Rent a bicycle from any of these locations and you can participate in any of the planned activities or just pick up a NYC Cycling Map and take on the city on your own.
